Foreign Language

In a globalised world where the importance of knowing a foreign language to communicate is increasing day by day, one of the missions of TED Schools is to provide quality foreign language education. Within this framework, TED K12 English Curriculum, which was prepared to ensure the standardisation and development of foreign language education at an international level and approved by the Ministry of National Education Board of Education, is implemented at TED Schools.

Taking into account the changing student profile and needs, practices that develop the skills of the 21st century in English language education are included in the curriculum and continuous guidance and in-service training support is provided to English teachers in our schools through trainings with Cambridge English, International House and Oxford Teachers Academy.

Within the scope of our foreign language teaching programme, which aims to make students able to use a language in accordance with their age and skill levels, efforts are made to develop our students’ skills of decision-making, problem solving, research, development, questioning, discovery and analysis by using information meaningfully, and students are given the opportunity to monitor and evaluate their own language development.

Our main goal in language education is to arouse love, desire and curiosity in our children about the target language. In our early years and primary school classes, the development of verbal skills is essential in language education.

Foreign Language education at TED Schools Middle and High School Departments is student-centred and planned to develop listening-speaking-reading and writing skills. Students have the opportunity to express themselves and use the foreign language in different environments. Considering that students have different learning strategies, different teaching techniques are used.

Second Foreign Language

In the Second Foreign Language programme, students choose one of the foreign languages offered by our school and learn a second foreign language through a communicative curriculum.

At TED Schools, it is aimed for students to be able to read, write and understand intermediate level texts in the second foreign language, as well as to learn the language at a level that will enable them to express themselves on current issues and topics of their own interest.
