APPLICATIONS FOR MOTHER TONGUE TEACHING
At TED Üsküdar College, literacy education is included in the primary school curriculum. Our students, who are prepared for primary school 1st grade with the program that makes them feel the sounds of the letters in pre-school education and supports small muscle skills, are included in the reading and writing process in primary school 1st grade.
In Turkish lessons, one class hour per week is devoted to reading books together. In order to make students love reading books from a young age, projects that support the book being read are included in the curriculum. In our Turkish library lessons, cultural books selected by our class teachers are read and evaluated, and from time to time, interview programs are organized in our school to introduce the authors of the cultural books read and to evaluate the book together with the author.
PROJECTS CARRIED OUT WITH PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
FAIRY TALE-ISLAND AND SEASONS PROJECT
A fairy tale recital in English-Turkish is organized for our students once in each season during the year. Donations of food for stray animals in autumn and winter and donations of stationery materials in spring and summer are accepted for participation in the recitals. Stationery materials are donated to schools with limited opportunities determined by the student council.
DON’T THROW IT AWAY, LET IT BE REPAIRED, LET IT BE HOPE FOR CHILDREN PROJECT
To contribute to the ‘Don’t throw it away! Let it be repaired, let it be hope for children’ project, which was awarded by Sabancı University in the field of Making a Difference Projects. Our students voluntarily supported Muammer Kavazoğlu, who lives in Orhangazi, Bursa, who repairs these toys and delivers them to children in need. In the project supported by many volunteers, Muammer Kavazoğlu’s mother Şükriye Kavazoğlu also supports by repairing plush toys.
