With the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, education was one of the areas that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk prioritized and supported all kinds of investments for its development. In this context, his speech in the Parliament in 1925, calling on individuals and private organizations to contribute to education, was the first step towards establishing the ‘Turkish Education Society’ and the qualified Turkish schools that Atatürk longed for. The Turkish Education Society, now known as the Turkish Education Association, was founded on 31 January 1928 under the leadership of the cadres who founded the Republic upon Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s call.

The Turkish Education Association is a well-established non-governmental organization whose mission is to provide scholarships to successful but underprivileged students, to open foreign language schools and dormitories in Turkey and abroad, to create scientific platforms that will bring Turkish education standards to modern levels, to raise public awareness about the problems and solutions of the education system and to contribute to the formulation of Turkish education policy.
